March & April Newsletter 2008 - 8th April 2008 at 8:07pm

Welcome to the March/April 2008  newletter.

What a busy month we have had! Our grading with Master Donnelly at Atherstone was a great success, ALL students passed with good grades and over fifty percent passed with A passes!! We must be doing something right!! Many students took advantage of the Saturday lessons, making it become part of their natural weekly schedule. I think that the regular participants to this Saturday lesson can be spotted during their training on Wednesday nights- they look better, fitter, and they don’t forget as much as others who don’t attend!

Please go to the Photo gallery to see the pictures from the grading, including pictures of the male and female grading trophy winners-Edward and Holly. Particular well done to you two!!

The other major event that took place in March was the English Championships, which were held at Nottingham.

We only took a small team this time to these Championships, and I couldn’t personally enter due to my ankle ligament damage ( it’s getting better folks), but we still managed 11 entries. Well done to Jakob, Issac, Aarron, Martin, Kymon, Simon, Carys, Steven and Chloe, Becky, and first time entry Joel! You  ALL represented the club brilliantly!!

The Bronze medals that Kymon ( sparring); Carys ( Patterns) and the Silver Chloe ( sparring)  received, are all helping promote the club and our members abilities. Other people from the entry list did not medal,  but also performed admirably-we seem to get better with each championships!! Please go to the Photo Gallery to see the Atherstone entrants and trophy pictures.

If you didn’t make this Championships, be aware the next event is on June 22nd at Kettering, at the Midland Championships. This will be a smaller and less formal event so try and attend, we will be increasing our patterns and sparring lessons prior to this event, you too could be a winner!

The next major up and coming event will be the Seminar to be held at Kingsbury school 3 rd May.

The day will be split into two parts:    1 ) A Beginners, yellow belt, green belt, red stripe, red belt grading. ( No blue belts)

                                                                   2) A Seminar ( special training focussed lesson) to be held by Master Donnelly. The grading will be on the morning at 9.30 till 11.00 ish    - to be confirmed.   The Seminar will begin around 11.00 ish until the last man standing!!!!!

Fees: Grading and seminar  : £ 30.00       Seminar : £ 15.00      Special concessions for certain people and family’s -see Simon.

We will encourage everyone from our club to enter this Seminar, it will be a special opportunity!!!! Start a payment plan with Tracey now- say an extra £ 2 or £ 3.00 per week.

Please support your club with Seminar’s and Championships as much as possible, it helps to create a club identity and friendship amongst students and instructors. Please come along to the Saturday sessions, we are doing Sparring, pad work, patterns and self defence work with fake bottles, knives and sticks! I think with all the knife crime around, especially amongst teenage boys, that these lessons could be useful.  So come along-remember:                 Use it or lose it!

A special thankyou to Martin and Becky for helping out at the Championships.

Keep training!
